A much-needed breather
The start of 2021 was an extremely demanding one for PAOK, with continuous competitive action in both the league and cup. For the first time in a long time, however, the club’s players has had the opportunity to unwind a bit and work for more than two days for the next match.
On Tuesday (16.02) the PAOK sqaud and staff had their first rest day for around 50 days. It was a necessary breather for some long overdue physical and mental rest.
On Wednesday (17.02) everyone was back at Nea Mesimvria. The training program for the day included work in all aspects. Initially the players did some running drills. They were then divided into two groups. While one group worked on defensive tactics, the other worked on possession and passing. After that, the players took part in some high-intensity games played in restricted spaces, while the finale featured a friendly match.
Jose Angel Crespo underwent an MRI scan, which showed that during the match against PAS Giannina he suffered a thigh strain. The Spanish defender has already began treatment, and his condition will be re-evaluated in 10 days, but according to the first prognosis, he is expected to be sidelined for between 2-3 weeks.
Enea Mihaj continued his rehabilitation program on two axes. The Albanian central defender did some running out on the practice pitches, while he also did some muscle strengthening in the gym.
On Thursday (18.02) PAOK will train at 11:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
