Murg: «It’s important to keep a clean sheet at the back»
Thomas Murg shared his thoughts and insights on the upcoming Super League Interwetten Matchday 24 clash against Asteras in Tripolis.
On the match against Lamia:
«The difficult thing was not scoring goals, it was to keep a clean sheet. This is the difference for us now. That is our success and if we continue to do this then the results will go our way.»
On whether playing one game per week helps PAOK:
«This difficulty was for most of the top teams, not just for us. With one game a week of course it is much easier for us to prepare, but what applies to us applies to all the other teams too.»
On what has changed and how much keeping clean sheets at the back help:
«It was not easy to manage, we have changed coaches, and the system. We worked a lot in training on the defensive part. I even have to play defensively when I’m in attacking positions. Our work and our play in training have brought this result and helped us to keep clean sheets.»
On his own personal performances:
«Unfortunately the end of the season is coming fast and we are not in the position we want to be. We lost a lot of points that we should have won because we were a much better team than the results show. It was a difficult season for me; I try to give 100% and I hope that from the start of the new season everything will go much better.»
On the game with Asteras Tripolis:
«I have only faced this team once, at the Toumba. They are a good team that defend well, and they are good at counter-attacking. I have heard from some of my teammates that PAOK sometimes finds it difficult to get a good result in Tripoli but that lately we have succeeded. I think if we follow the coaching team’s plan we will get the result we want.»
