Sznaucer: «We’re ready for the… revenge match»
Miroslav Sznaucner shared his thoughts and insights on the upcoming Super League Interwetten Play Off derby clash against Panathinaikos at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium to the Novasports cameras. Read what the Pole said on paokfc.gr.
On how the international break went:
«We are in good shape. We worked for a lot of days. We had time to work as well as for some players to rest. Some players were missing who played successive matches with their national teams, such as Ingason who played three 90 minutes’ in a row. But all of the rest of the group are ready.»
On what aspect of tactics they have worked on most:
«We worked on a lot of aspects, both defensively and attacking-wise, as well as with set pieces. We also put a heavy emphasis on fitness so that we can perform at peak level since there are a lot of games. We worked very hard.»
On the absence of those players who were playing with their national teams:
«Yes, we were missing several key players from our usual starting line-up, but we did not change the plan; we worked with the players we had. We wanted to have them, but we could not. But that’s not an issue, we were not just killing time.»
On Swiderski and the goal he scored for Poland on his debut:
«It’s important. I talked to him personally about how it all went and how he was feeling. He is happy, he scored a goal – his first for his country – and played a key role against England. He came back happy and with a healthy appetite for the rest of the season.»
On the game with Panathinaikos and if he expects a similar performance to that in the win over AEK:
«We started in an ideal way – with a victory. This is very important because we wanted to enter the Play Offs with the right way. Now we have the second step. The first victory gave us a psychological boost, and now we have another chance to play and win, and we really want to take the three points..»
On whether it is an opportunity to settle the score:
«Yes, it is an opportunity. The same type of game awaits us. We played there three weeks ago, and we know how Panathinaikos plays. We lost then, but in the first half until the goal we conceded we were good, and we had chances to score goals. We paid dearly for one bad phase of play. But we learned a lesson from this game and we are ready to get our revenge.»
On whether all the players are fit and ready for the game at ‘Leoforos’:
«Yes, the whole squad is ready for this match.»
