Olympiacos vs. PAOK: Facts & Figures

- This marks PAOK’s 21st Greek Cup final, with their first coming 1939. Seven of those were against Olympiacos, six against AEK, while PAOK has also faced Panathinaikos four times, Aris twice, and Larissa once.
- PAOK have won the cup 7 times, with the first coming in 1972 against Panathinaikos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium and the second in 1974 against Olympiacos at the same venue.
- PAOK have played in seven different stadiums in Greek Cup finals, with the OAKA and the Karaiskakis at a 5-5 tie in terms of finals played at those venues ahead of the 79th final, which will be PAOK’s sixth in the Maroussi ground. Olympiacos, on the other hand, have found itself contesting the cup final in 10 different stadiums, including the two-legged final against PAOK at the Toumba in 1992.
- In five of their last six appearances in the Greek Cup final, PAOK went home with the trophy. This was a run thaat began in 2001 against Olympiacos at AEK’s Nea Philadelphia ground. This was followed by the 2003 final against Aris, and the three consecutive finals against AEK from 2017 to 2019. The parenthesis of one defeat took place in 2014 against Panathinaikos.
- 9 – the number of participations with PAOK in Greek Cup finals is a record held by George Koudas, who won the trophy twice (1972-1974). He is followed by Stavros Sarafis and Giannis Gounaris with seven participations and two trophies.
- The modern generation of PAOK players Leo Matos, Fernando Varela, Jose Crespo, Yevgen Shakhov, Canas, and Diego Biseswar all have three cup winners medals to their name in their three appearances. The Spanish defender and Cape Verde defender are set to make history.
- PAOK have played a total of 423 games in the Greek Cup with a record of 270 wins – 69 draws – 84 defeats, and a goal ratio of 885-371.
