Mr. Varela the graduate
He dropped out of school at the age of 16. Why? Because he became a father and had to work to make ends meet. His dream of completing his education, however, is something he has never given up on. And now, almost a lifetime later, he did it. He graduated. With his family and his then newborn son, to help him with the lessons. The story of Fernando Varela is an inspiration.
While everyone else went to bed after their demanding training workouts, he would pick up his computer and head to the meeting room. There he could isolate himself, dedicate himself to his lessons, and prepare properly for his exams. You see on Monday (19.07), he was taking an exam. And his anxiety was obvious.
His teammates, making a few polite jokes, supported him and continue to support him. Because Fernando Varela is one of the examples of a determined mentality in the dressing room and that gives him the necessary respect.
His coach, Razvan Lucescu, as soon as he heard the news, left words to one side and expressed his feelings with a hug. A pat on the back and a caress of the player’s head. Simple moves, but ones of great value.
