- PAOK begins its challenge in this season’s new European competition, the UEFA Europa Conference League, against Bohemians from Ireland.
- This is essentially the fifth European event in which the Double-headed Eagle has taken part, since their course in Europe began with the Exhibition Cup, in 1967-68, that is, before it received its official name of the UEFA Cup. In total, in the Exhibition Cup, PAOK played six matches, counting two wins and four defeats.
- In 1972-73 PAOK competed in the Cup Winners’ Cup for the first time against Rapid Vienna, in a tie which saw the Greek club eliminated after two draws, 0-0 in Austria and 2-2 in Thessaloniki. In the Cup Winners’ Cup PAOK have played 18 games, counting eight wins, five draws and five defeats, with 28 goals for and 28 against.
- In 1975-76 came PAOK’s UEFA Cup bow against Barcelona, in a competition which evolved into the Europa League. PAOK have racked up the most participations in this tournament, with a total of 148 games, counting 55 wins, 42 draws and 51 losses, with the goals stats standing at 216-188.
- In 1976-77 PAOK participated in the Champions Cup, where in the first they eliminated Omonia Nicosia before meeting Dynamo Kiev, who sent them out with two defeats. In total, combined with all the qualifiers PAOK have played in the Champions League, the club have played 28 games, counting six wins, nine draws and 13 defeats, with 36 goals in favor and 29 against.
- In total in all European competitions, PAOK have played 200 matches (71 wins – 56 draws – 73 losses) with the goal count at 285-282.
- PAOK’s history with Irish clubs includes only one opponent, Shamrock Rovers in the 2011-12 season, when the Double-headed Eagle prevailed in both games. Initially with a 2-1 result at the Toumba, followed by a 3-1 away win.
- Vieirinha is the only player in today’s squad who was on the club’s roster at that time and he in fact played in both games.
