Lucescu: «We must be well-prepared mentally»
Razvan Lucescu spoke to Novasports to give his insights ahead of the upcoming Super League Interwetten clash against Panetolikos in Agrinio. Here’s what the Romanian said.
On how he feels about reaching 100 games in the PAOK dugout:
«This is the first time that I heard it. If these are the statistics, then I want to win my 101st game like crazy.»
On captain Vieirinha reaching 250 appearance in a PAOK shirt and the Portuguese player’s influence:
«I am very happy for Andre. He is a historical name for this club. He is part of the history of PAOK. He is a special person, a special footballer and I am honestly happy to have the opportunity to work with him. I hope to have him with me for as long as I can. This is my personal opinion. Andre is a part of history here. He will always be in the hearts of those close to the club. I wish him all the best and that later he can become part of the club’s management.»
On Vieirinha’s fitness and if he is available the game with Panetolikos:
«No, he will not be available for this game. He took a blow on his ankle. It’s not so serious, but in any case we need to protect him and he will sit this one out.»
On what his key takeaways were from game in Tripoli, apart from the result:
«We keep the victory, and the great work that we did on the pitch. The good positioning play we produced, and the result we got at a ground that is clearly traditionally very difficult to get something form. But the most important thing is the desire and determination of the players to win this game against a good and well-organized team.»
On the two games that follow against Panetolikos and AEK, and how th4 squad will be managed:
«You expect me to tell you about how I will manage my squad? It’s only been a few hours since the previous game.»
On the game with Panetolikos and the host of changes that the Agrinio club has made this season:
«If I look at the team of Panetolikos I can not say that for me they have made a lot of changes, even the coach or the players who came in is a new situation as far as I’m concerned. As I have noticed in the first two games they are a team that good coherence. They battle hard, and are wel-organized. I think this is a match that will be decided on how we will interpret a favorable situation. We must have mental readiness, and we must have balance in order to get the three points.»
