A sprint finish

The … marathon of seven consecutive games in less than 20 days comes to an end with another away game. PAOK next travel to Crete to face OFI at the “Theodoros Vardinogiannis” Stadium for Matchday 5 of the 2021-22 Super League Interwetten on Sunday (03.10).

01.10.2021

The Double-headed Eagle are aiming to conclude the hectic program with a victory before the international break, which offers a chance for some players to rest and for the coaching staff to do some reorganization in view of the restart of domestic league and European fixtures.

Preparations for the upcoming match in Heraklion began a few hours after the game against Slovan Bratislava at the Toumba. PAOK may not have managed to get the three points, which the team desired so much, but they manage to keep the gap between themselves and Slovan the same, and now PAOK will play two consecutive games against FC Copenhagen that will go a long way to deciding who will qualify from the group.

But all this secondary right now, because for now the focus in the PAOK camp is centered on Sunday’s (03.10) game. The training session on Friday (01.10) saw hte players split into two groups.

Those who were in the starting lineup against Slovan performed a special workout program on the pitch and then did some recovery and rehabilitation training in the gym and in the swimming pool.

The rest of the group did a high-intensity workout, focusing mainly on tactics, with an emphasis on build-up play and transitions.

Varela and Murg underwent treatment, while Ingason, Crespo, El Kaddouri and Oliveira followed their respective individual programs.

On Saturday (02.10) PAOK will train at 10:30 in Nea Mesimvria and in the afternoon they will depart for Crete by charter flight.
