Lucescu: «There are no easy games»
Razvan Lucescu shared his thoughts and insights on the team’s return to action in the upcoming Super League Interwetten contest against Volos to the Novasports cameras. Read what the Romanian coach said on paokfc.gr.
On the international break and whether this time was enough for the team to wind-down and also work on pieces that needed improvement:
«The truth is that it is always a difficult period for us when we talk about the international break. We have a lot of players representing their national teams so we have a limited number of players we can work with. But this is also normal when the first-team is high in the standings, more players can end up getting a call-up to their national team.»
On the players returning from nijury and who he has available for the game with Volos:
«As a coach it is normal to be happy and satisfied when there are players returning, and it is my pleasure to work with the squad we have. They are some returning players that will give us different solutions that we need as we have a demanding program which will see us play every three days. he returnees gives us many quality options. For example, El Kaddouri, Varela and Murg. Ingason is a different case; he’s a player who has been out for a long time after the sensitive surgery he underwent. NBut to have him coming back is something that makes us very happy.»
On Mitrita and Swiderski, who both scored with their national teams, and whether they have brought the excitement from these goals back with them:
«You have to ask the players if there is enthusiasm and if they bring it here. In any case, I believe that when you score for your national team it is something that brings you great pleasure, makes you proud and gives you great motivation. As their coach I am very happy for their achievements. And everyone who supports PAOK should be happy too because these players belong to PAOK, and are valuable assets for us. You also forgot to mention Kurtic’s goal for Slovakia.»
On Tsingaras and Tsaousis, who returned from international duty with positive Covid-19 tests:
«It’s very unfortunate for Tsingaras, however it is a situation that many teams have gone through. The positive thing we keep from this negative situation is that he has no symptoms and that he is fine health-wise. Tsaousis, who belongs to the PAOK B squad, is in a similar situation, but we are happy that at least at this tough time, they do not have any symptoms of ill health.»
On the fact that there are many goalscorers in this PAOK team, with seven different scorers on target for the club’s eight goals so far:
«The truth is that I do not sit and analyze such facts so much, about who scored and how. The important thing is to be able to score. That is why we are preparing, this is our goal to get the three points, so we don’t focus too much on the player who scores, rather simply to be able to score to get the three points. And obviously the team that scores the most goals will be the one that will have the balance and the ability to cope so that they can do it.»
On the match with Volos and if he considers the Magnesia club to be this season’s pleasant surprise in the championship:
«I do not think that Volos is a surprise. They are a team that made life difficult for a lot of teams last year, so I think they are a good side. From there, yes, we start another difficult week, we will have to see off tomorrow’s game, then go to Copenhagen, and then after that face Olympiacos away. We are playing every three days, yes, but I still think that there are no easy games. All matches have their specific levels and types of difficulty, and their own special way. Volos are a team that are well-organised and bring enthusiasm, this shows from where they are in the league standings. Nevertheless, I believe that we are fully prepared to be able to get what we want from the game and continue the positive series of results that we are producing.»
