Lucescu: «We’re only think about the next game»
Razvan Lucescu shared his thoughts and insights on the upcoming Super League Interwetten clash with Ionikos with the Novasports cameras. Read what the Romanian coach said on paokfc.gr.
On the busy fixture list and the effects of playing extra time against Midtyjlland:
«Psychologically we are in very good shape, there is an air of excitement in general among the team for the qualification, yet the most difficult part is to find the right spiritual approach to the next game. But I am sure that this excitement will help us to win it. It was a tough evening, however, very important for our season. We have a group of good players and those who are called upon to play tomorrow, they have to do the best they can, to fight to get this victory, which we all want.»
On the match against Ionikos:
«We expect a difficult game, just like we do for every match in this league. I think we face a team that has a different style in relation to us; they are a team that are struggling to preserve their top flight status, but they are a team that is full of running, lots of energy, and that tries to put pressure on the zone wherever the ball is. What we have to do is to have the same energy and react early to get the three points that are important to us.»
On the challenge of PAOK competing for three trophies:
«The truth is that we do not think about the remaining games, what we think about is only the next game; in this case the game with Ionikos. It is very important for us that we are still in contention in all three competitions, that we continue to fight for our goals on all three fronts. This is something that many teams do not succeed to do, and it is something that can help us strengthen as a group in terms of our mentality, with regard to learning to manage games. Players need to learn to manage these things, it is something that helps us mature as a team. At this time we tell ourselves that we have not achieved anything yet, and so we need to continue in the same vein.»
«In the course of recent weeks we have had the chance to produce some strong performances; we played twice in the Greek Cup, we also played against Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, while we had two games against Midjylland in Europe. Generally this situation saw us learning in practice how to manage such situations, and it is a fantastic situation for us that we are constantly trying to improve.»
