The post-Marseille evaluation
The first match leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final in Marseille showed many things. Firstly, that PAOK have no reason to fear Marseille. Second, that the tie is far from over. And finally, everything will be decided at the Toumba, in what will be a completely different match. Not because of the atmosphere, but because the two teams have now had the chance to size each other up.
The French hold a 2-1 lead and PAOK have at least 90 minutes to overturn it. The Double-headed Eagle have nothing to lose.
On Friday (08.04) the players took a short rest after the demanding match in Marseille, and they then returned to work on Saturday (09.04) morning.
Those who were in the starting lineup at the Velodrome followed a recovery and rehabilitation program involving work out on the practice pitches and in the gym.
The rest of the group went out onto the training pitch for a training session that was dedicated to ball movement. After warming up, the technical staff prepared a set of exercises with emphasis on the passing game, while in the last part of the session, there was a mini-friendly match played out.
There are no injury problems from the match in France, and so Giannis Michailidis is the only name on the club’s injured list.
On Sunday (10.04) PAOK will train at 11:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
