Lucescu: «We’re going there to impose our game»
Razvan Lucescu shared his thoughts and insights on the team’s upcoming Super League Interwetten Play Offs Matchday 5 calsh against Aris to the Novasports cameras. Read what the Romanian coach said on paokfc.gr.
On the experiences gained from the matches in Europe:
«If we start talking about the experiences from the Conference League it may take a long time. And I’m not just talking about the matches against Marseille but our whole run in the tournament. I think we were close to surprising everyone and getting ourselves qualified [for the semi-finals]. I’m referring to both matches against the team from France. We had more chances overall and especially in the game at the Toumba. I am satisfied with the effort made by my players and they worked hard to qualify. We did not succeed because they were more effective than we were. But the least I can say is that we were worthy of going even further. Having said that, it was an important experience that will help us in the coming years as we will now manage such situations differently. We will improve both as a team and as individuals.»
On the game against Aris:
«It is clear that Aris is under pressure, as they are battling for a place in Europe, and in the standings both Panathinaikos and AEK are very close to them. On the other hand, we had this fantastic experience last Thursday, but also the stress that comes with it, and now we have a series of consecutive league and cup matches. It is different to prepare the team for one game per week and different to have one every three days consecutively. We are stronger as a club though. We have to respond well, with or without the ball, and impose our game on them at our own pace. We will go there to play our own game knowing it will be a strong one. We have confidence in the way we play. It is not big news that we have some absentees. This has been happening all season and that’s why all the players are valuable, and we have learned to live with that. But we have no complaints and we are preparing all the players to be ready.»
