Focusing on the cup
Transitions between competitions are never easy, especially when it comes to matches that have their own idiosyncrasies. At the “Kleanthis Vikelidis”, PAOK were defeated by both physical and mental fatigue and missed the opportunity to make up ground of leaders Olympiacos, which makes the next matches even more important.
Now the Double-headed Eagle are called upon to regroup for the Greek Cup matches that follow against Olympiacos. Two matches that will decide the outcome of one of the team’s major goals this season, and the prospect of a trophy.
The morning after the match against Aris included work in two groups. Those who were in the starting lineup of the match in Charilaou followed a recovery and rehabilitation program both out on the practice pitches and in the gym.
The rest of the squad completed a full program that mainly concerned tactics, with an emphasis on the movement of the ball, but also work on fitness through various high-intensity exercises.
Andre Vieirinha and Omar El Kaddouri continued their injury treatments, while Giannis Michailidis is in the first stage of his recovery after knee surgery.
On Tuesday (19.04) PAOK will train at 11:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
