Lucescu: «We are trying to produce a positive reaction»
Razvan Lucescu shared his thought and insights with Novasports ahead of the match against Olympiacos at the “Georgios Karaiskakis”. Read what the Romanian coach said via paokfc.gr.
On the current status of the squad:
«The [injured] players are starting to come back, however, getting players back from the treatment room is not our top concern. We have to manage the situation and prepare all the players properly. Every situation of each missing player is different. They require completely different treatment, so our goal is not just to get them back, but in a position to play and to fight.»
On the management of both the competitive and the psychological part:
«It’s certainly difficult, but it’s not the first time it has happened. At the right time with the right management we can find the solution, we have to set our priorities.»
On whether the players are ready to react in the match with Olympiacos:
«The point is to be able to react, and we try this every day. I will say it once again this year, except for the years when PAOK won the championship and the cup, it is one of the most successful seasons of the last five years, so what we need to do is to close the year in a successful way so that it remains memorable in our history, having, of course, difficult moments through it as well. It was a difficult season with games every three days, so it is logical that when you play so many crucial matches that many players will get injuries, as well as moments when your mental stregth will not be at its best, as well as losing your rhythm. It’s something we have to deal with.»
On what kind of game is he expecting against Olympiacos:
«We have discussed what we expect with each other, we will face a very good team with a quality roster that has won the championship. We will look for some specific things in the match to be satisfied when the match is over, while also preparing for Tuesday’s match with Panathinaikos.»
