PAOK vs. Asteras Tripois: Facts & Figures
Ahead of PAOK’s Super League Matchday clash against Asteras Tripolis at the Toumba, paokfc.gr puts you in the picture about the background to the match, as well as a look back at our previous encounters against the Arcadians.
- PAOK prevailed 3-2 in their last match against Asteras Tripolis and put an end to two consecutive matches between the two teams that had ended in 0-1 defeats. The first of those two was a victory for Asteras in the last matchday of the Play Offs at the Toumba, and the other was a victory over PAOK in Arcadia on Matchday 1 last season.
- In the 2020-21 season Asteras Tripolis broke a streak that had seen PAOK complete six wins and a draw in seven matches both home and away from August 25, 2018, that is for two consecutive seasons. In fact, PAOK had only conceded goals in two of those seven matches.
- In recent years, PAOK has managed to exorcise its evil «demon», after having victories at home and away against Asteras Tripolis. This happened for the first time in 2016-17, some ten years after the appearance of the Arcadian team in the Super League, in which (in 2007-08) it started with two wins against PAOK, home and away.
- In total, the two teams have met 38 times in the league and the tally is 18 wins for PAOK, seven draws and 13 wins for Asteras.
- 19 – the number of matches played with PAOK as the home team, of which they have won 12, lost three and drawn four.
- 228 – the number of playing minutes between Miroslav Stoch’s goal on April 30, 2014 and Dimitris Pelkas’ goal on February 27, 2016. Between them, no goal had been scored in a match between PAOK and Asteras Tripolis at the Toumba, since the matches in the 2014-15 season in the regular league season, as well as that for the Play Offs ended in 0-0 draws. These two matches, as well as the one in Tripoli on September 11, 2009, are the only games that have ended without a goal being scored between the two teams.
- In PAOK’s 11 home victories, there is not one most popular scoreline, since the Double-headed Eagle has divided its victories between 1-0 and 2-0 results, which have both appeared four times each.
- In four of its 18 home games, PAOK have not managed to score against Asteras in the two goalless draws, and in the two 1-0 victories that the Arcadian team have registered in the Toumba – one during the regular season in its maiden year in the Super League, and one in the 2020-21 Play offs.
