PAOK B pre-season
PAOK’s second string’s preparations for the new season started in Thessaloniki on 07.08 (Sourotis sports center) in the middle of a heat wave, it continued – clearly under better conditions – in the mountains (Volakas, Drama), and the team have already played two friendly games. For the 2023-24 season, PAOK B are preparing, under the instructions of the new technical staff, with daily training sessions and by scheduling a series of friendly matches, as the Super League 2 championship is not expected to start before October.
In the first friendly match at Volakas, Alexandros Alexiadis’ team beat PAOK Kristonis 5-1 with goals from Darelas, Gordeziani, Panidis and Smyrlis. On Sunday 27.08, the team traveled to Kavala to face the local side, with which they drew (1-1 with a goal by Gordeziani). With this game, the first three matches of the six planned pre-season games until September 17 were completed. During this next period, PAOK B will play several preparatory matches. The next ones are against Ethnikos Keramidos on 02.09, with Thermaikos Thermis on 06.09 and then with Kampaniakos on 16.09.
Regarding the team news, the new PAOK B coach Alexiadis has beside him assistant coach Sakis Terzis, fitness coach Mert Isbiril, goalkeeper coach Dimitris Kryonas, the analyst Konstantinos Kavakis, and rehabilitation coach Dimitris Petrakis. Kostas Iosifidis remains the team;s general manager, Argyris Karavelis is the doctor, Stavros Terzanidis and Vangelis Vassiliadis are the physiotherapists, while Vassilis Papadopoulos is the team’s minder. The operational manager of the team is Dimitris Saraidaris.
The squad currently consists of 28 players, with the youngest being those born in 2006. It’s worth noting that of course, that the second-team player pool is a reservoir that feeds and is fed according to the needs, development and management of our young players.
