Charisis lands Players’ Young Player of the Year

Charis Charisis earned the Players’ Young Player of the Year distinction by his teammates, edging out Giannis Mystakidis who got just three points less.

He joined our club in the summer as a very promising player. In time he became an important member of the roster. Despite suffering injuries in the beginning of the season, he recovered, worked hard and proved right all those people who believed in him and brought him to Thessaloniki.

The season ended on a fine note for him. His teammates voted him as the Players’ Young Player of the Year. Charis Charisis made a strong impression in his first season at the “Double-Headed Eagle” and proved he can become a vital cog of future PAOK.

He made 23 appearances and spent 1.630 minutes on the pitch –had it not been for his injuries, these numbers would be bigger. The young midfielder contributed significantly in the team’s attack with two goals and three assists and was impeccable in all his duties, displaying remarkable maturity for his age.

In the vote held by PAOK players to determine the best youngster, Charisis got 50 points, leaving Giannis Mystakidis behind with 47.

After completing a formative season at Pierikos, he returned to Toumba in order to fight for a place in the team’s roster. Igor Tudor was convinced in preseason, kept him with the seniors and Mystakidis proved him right.

He conjutred up six goals and seven assists in 30 appearances and 1.458 minutes of playing time. He was extremely effective and, despite coming mostly from the bench, he provided the necessary solutions. Along with Charisis and the other young guys, they are proof that PAOK can expect a lot from them in the future.
