«The result is all that matters»

Here is everything that PAOK head coach Vladan Ivić said in his press conference, after the 1-0 victory over Panionios for matchday 4 of the Super League.

24.05.2017

On the second consecutive victory over Panionios and the fatigue factor:

«I have repeatedly said that our season is drawing to a close, there are just a few days left on the calendar. Good results are all that matters at this point. As you saw, it’s not easy for the players. Congratulations are in order for the effort of both sides. The scoreline could have been different, as both teams had opportunities to score. We are satisfied with the result«.

On the play-offs:

«We are professionals and we deal with all plays, either positive or negative. Focus and self-concentration is an important factor. Goals are scarce in the play-offs, most matches end in 1-0 victories and that is due to fatigue and lack of focus. Most strikers lack clear thinking, their finishing is somewhat off and scoring opportunities are squandered. What matters most is for the players to keep healthy and for us to remain in top spot until the end«.

On Pouggouras:

«I know Achilleas very well from our time together in the U20s. I know he is a skillful player and he can help at any time. In the first half we had some problems and in the second I didn’t want to risk a caution that would leave us with 10 players on the pitch«.

On the empty stands in Greek grounds:

«I agree that it’s disappointing to see empty stands, especially when then big clubs are in action. We are professionals and we must do our job. We must give it 100% until the end«.

On Pelkas being booed by the crowd:

«I had said after that encounter, that his mode of celebration had nothing to do with Panionios. He also said that. It’s very important for everyone to understand that, he didn’t mean to offend anyone. It was his fault, he understands it. He is very young. Such mistakes happen at this age. We need to support him and prevent him from making the same mistakes again«.
