Before even realising that he was at PAOK senior team as yet another select member of their academy, he wore their iconic No 10 shirt in 2012. He became one of their youngest ever scorers in European competition and was labeled a great Greek talent.

The weight of expectations on his shoulders proved unbearable, but not enough to sidetrack him. Dimitris Pelkas took a step back, continued to work hard, started building his career again and is back stronger.

In the second half of the 2013-14 season he was shipped on loan to Apollon Kalamaria, where he scored 7 goals in 18 encounters. He then was given on loan to Portuguese outfit Vitória de Setúbal.

Pelkas was given the opportunity to display his talent in the Primeira Liga and is now back at PAOK, much stronger and ready to fight for a starting place at PAOK. His first reward has been the extension of his contract until 2018.

The 2015-16 season was his first full season at PAOK. First, former coach Igor Tudor, and then his successor Vladan Ivic put their faith in the young midfielder, who finished the season with 48 appearances, 3,545 minutes, nine goals and eight assists.

In 2015 he was called up for the first time by Greece’s national team in the away match with Northern Ireland during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

He continued to work hard and was richly rewarded in the 2017-18 season. He was given a more advanced role, matured as a player and enjoyed a great season, ending the campaign with 12 goals and 12 assists. He was nominated as a vice-captain behind Stelios Malezas and Andre Vieirinha. The highlight of a great season was the goal he scored in the final of the Greek Cup against AEK.
