Rodeo…
Panthrakikos earned one point in Toumba (3-3) after an unbelievable game where everything went wrong for PAOK.
PAOK stormed out of the blocks, created danger in Panthrakikos’ box, took the lead with a fine goal of Rodrigues after a great combination and seemed to be in the driver’s seat. However, two goals against the run of play (in the 25th and 41st minute) scored by Papageorgiou and Baykara gave the visiting team the unexpected lead.
The “Double-Headed Eagle” started the second half as strongly as the first with Stefanos Athanasiadis coming off the bench. Another goal by Rodrigues (48’) and Klaus’s strike (61’) put PAOK in the front again. Referee Dimitropoulos denied legitimate claims of the home footballers for two spot kicks in as many clear handfouls of Panthrakikos’s players. The “Double-Headed Eagle” wasted several glorious chances to seal their victory and were made to pay for it. Against the run of play again, Baykara broke free and made it 3-3 with a header. Despite various chances in both boxes, this scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
PAOK wasted a unique opportunity to reverse the trend of mediocre results and missed out on an emphatic victory that they deserved. Two more points thrown away in the league…
