Focused and united PAOK look ahead
The Karaiskakis encounter and everything that happened there proved that PAOK have nobody and nothing to fear, even all odds are against them. The “Double-Headed Eagle” remain united and focused and continue their fight against the system.
Vladan Ivić and his players have no time or reason to dwell on the encounter against Olympiacos, since they have the Greek Cup opening match against AEL Larissa on Wednesday (26 October) and the derby against AEK Athens on Sunday (30 October) ahead of them.
Those who started the Karaiskakis match followed a special recuperation program with gym and pool drills. The training session for the rest consisted of ball passing exercises with aerobic adjustments and games in reduced space.
Yevhen Shakhov, who complained of foot pains on Sunday night due to a knock sustained during the match, did an MRI that revealed a slight bruise of the ligaments. He will follow a special recovery program in upcoming days and won’t be at the disposal of Ivić for the AEL Larissa game. He is expected to be ready though for Sunday’s encounter.
Dimitris Pelkas continued his recovery program with jogging on the pitch and will return to normal training next week. Giorgos Tzavellas followed normal training on Monday and he will do decompression work on Tuesday. He is expected to return to ball drills on Wednesday.
Marin Leovac, who complained of pain in the right groin during the Olympiacos encounter, followed a recovery program and will do an MRI on Tuesday to assess his condition. His latest fine performances of PAOK earned him a spot again in Croatia’s national team for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
