PAOK players on international duty
Season 2018-19 draws to a close with international duty for several PAOK players. Here are their fixtures:
Alexandros Paschalakis, Dimitris Pelkas and Efthymis Koulouris joined Greece national team on 22 May for their preparation ahead of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Italy (8 June, 21:45) and Armenia (11 June, 21:45), both to be held in the Olympic Stadium of Athens.
After training in the Netherlands for a few days, Greece travelled to Antalya for a friendly encounter against Turkey, which they lost 2-1. Paschalakis made his international debut with a fine performance, while Pelkas and Koulouris both featured in the starting line-up of Anastasiadis.
Ingi Ingason’s Iceland host Albania on 8 June (16:00) and Turkey on 11 June (21:45) for the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying stage. The “Double-Headed Eagle” defender earned a place in Erik Hamren’s pre-selection squad and his displays during preparation saw him make the final cut.
The same goes for Alin Toșca. He has been picked by Romania national squad head coach Cosmin Contra for their away matches against Norway (7 June, 21:45) and Malta (10 June, 21:45).
Karol Świderski has been called by Poland for the final stage of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The Polish squad has been drawn in the same group as Spain, Belgium and hosts Italy, vying for a place in the semi-finals. The best second-placed team from the three groups also make it to the final four.
Dimitris Limnios, Konstantinos Balomenos , Lefteris Lyratzis and Marios Siampanis have been called by Antonis Nikopolidis for Greece U21s’ friendly encounter against Germany and their game against San Marino, which starts their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign.
PAOK U19 players Christos Voutsas and Theodoros Pournaras have been included in Greece’s national U19 squad for the Granatkin tournament to be held in Saint Petersburg.
