PAOK’s 10 Internationals
March’s international fixtures get underway this week and 10 PAOK players have been called up to represent their countries.
Our players’ appearances for PAOK represent their passport to distinction at national level. How they perform for our club helps them win ‘promotion’ to the starting XI for their countries, their return to the national team fold, and/or their establishment in their respective squads. This week’s fixture list also includes World Cup qualifiers for the European zone countries, qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations, and qualifiers for the Under-21 European Championship.
Starting with Greece, The #GoldenBoy Christos Tzolis has been included in John v’ant Schip’s squad for the games against Spain (Los Carmenes 25.03, 21:45) and Georgia (Toumba 31.03, 21:45). Greece are fighting for a place in the next Word Cup, and they will also play a friendly game against Honduras (28.03, 17:00) at the Toumba Stadium.
Tzolis has already made his debut and has scored his first goal, while Karol Swiderski will have the opportunity to play for Poland for the first time, alongside names like Robert Lewandowski. The Poles face Hungary (25.03, 21:45) and England (31.03, 21:45) away, and they will also host Andorra (28.03, 21:45).
His partner in the PAOK offensive line, Michael Krmencik, has found a way back into the Czech national team. His goals and his overall good performances have earned him recognition in his homeland, and he will once again pull on a Czech shirt. The Czechs face Estonia (24.03, 19:00 away), Belgium (27.03, 21:45 home) and Wales (30.03, 21:45 away).
Another comeback is that of Andrija Zivkovic . After a while out of the squad, #Zile is back in favor with Serbia, who face Ireland (24.03, 21:45 home), Portugal (27.03, 21:45 home) and Azerbaijan (30.03, 19:00 away).
On the other hand, a regular for his country is Iceland defender Ingi Ingason. The Icelanders face Germany (25.03, 21:45), Armenia (28.03, 19:00) and Liechtenstein (31.03, 21:45), all away from home.
Rahman Baba is also on international duty with Ghana. The Ghanaians for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers face South Africa away (25.03, 18:00) and Sao Tome (28.03, 19:00).
Finally, Charis Tsingaras, Giannis Michailidis, Lefteris Lyratzis and Giorgos Koutsias have all been invited to the Greece Under-21 side for the match against Cyprus (25.03, 17:30) at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium for the premiere of Greece’s Under-21 European Championship qualifying group.
