In two of those PAOK managed to qualify for the next phase, while last season in the Champions League qualifiers against Krasnodar, PAOK did not advance to the next phase. The Double-headed Eagle overturned a 2-1 upset for the first time in the 2002-03 season against Leixoes, after prevailing 4-1 in the second leg. The 2015-16 season was the next challenge after a 2-1 defeat, this time against Lokomotiva Zagreb and in the second leg they qualified after securing an impressive 6-0 win.
- PAOK’s past encounters with the teams from Ireland includes only one opponent, Shamrock Rovers in the 2011-12 season, when the Double-headed Eagle prevailed in both games. Firstly with 2-1 success at the Toumba and then a 3-1 win away from home.
