  • This will be the 13th time that the clubs meet in the Greek Cup. This time the stage is the quarter-finals, and it’s the second consecutive time that they meet at this stage, as in 2019-20, when the Double-headed Eagle won both matches, 2-0 at the Toumba and 1-0 at «Leoforos».
  • Their encounters in the last eight are few, since this is only the third, as apart from 2019-20 they were also paired together in 2006-07, when Panathinaikos qualified in extra time of the second leg at the OAKA with a 3- 1 scoreline. PAOK won 2-1 at the Toumba (31′ Konstantinidis , 42′ Mieciel – 62′ Manztios).
  • Six of their 12 matches have taken place in the semi-finals, with the two teams each having qualified three times.
  • Three of their six semi-final matches went to extra-time or penalties. In the first of these, PAOK qualified via a 4-0 victory in extra-time in 1984-85, after overturning a 2-0 defeat in Athens.
  • The last time they faced each other in the semi-finals was in 2016-17 and PAOK qualified impressively after overturning a 2-0 defeat away from home thanks to a convincing 4-0 win (14′ Pelkas , 49′ Leo Matos, 73′ Shakhov, 83′ Prijovic), advancing to the final, where they lifted the trophy thanks to a 2-1 victory over AEK.
  • In their two previous matches in semi-finals that took place with two legs, the qualification was not decided in the 90 minutes of the match, but extra-time was needed in their last match and a penalty shootout in the one immediately before. The winning team both times was Panathinaikos, at the OAKA in 2006-07 and at the Toumba in 1993-94.
  • In 1948-49 and 1950-51 they met in the semi-finals in a single game format, and both teams managed one qualification apiece.
  • In 1993-94 in the Round of 16, the two matches ended 0-0, but in the second leg in Thessaloniki, Panathinaikos were more effective in the penalty shootout and qualified with a score of 5-4.
