«Make the most of our opportunities»
He returned to action after his injury and seems to have made a complete recovery. Marin Leovac spoke to Novasports TV about PAOK’s fine performance in Leoforos and set the tone ahead of the encounter against Asteras Tripolis in Toumba Stadium.
On the encounter against Panathinaikos:
«I liked our approach to that game. We all fought for each other and put on a fine display. Unfortunately we conceded two cheap goals, one in counterattack and the other one because of Panathinaikos’s pressure in the first minutes. However we reacted well and that is the positive aspect«.
On whether something changed before the Leoforos match or if their performance against Panathinaikos will lead to change:
«First of all, I believe that we all want to change our image after back-to-back negative results. It was a good opportunity for us to get points in Athens. Moreover, when playing away in a home ground like Panathinaikos’s with everyone against us, we keep on high alert. I believe that we will play well on Saturday as well«.
On his form and the position he needs to cover:
«It took some time. Against Iraklis, I couldn’t play more than 45 minutes according to the doctors. I felt very tired due to my recovery program. I felt better in Leoforos as you witnessed, feeling stronger with each day that passes. I am on the right path and I hope that I will be able to feature for the whole 90 minutes against Asteras. As for my position on the pitch, I have always played with a defensive line of four. We changed tactics again, but that won’t be a big problem for me. I have adjusted myself. I will play wherever my coach tells me to«.
On whether PAOK need to change some things for the Asteras match and his opinion on the rivals:
«We need to make the most of our opportunities and score. This is the most important. Asteras are a good team with fine players. In the first round of fixtures, we were leading by half-time and they managed to turn things around. We do want to win though. We need to distance ourselves from them in the standings. I am hoping for a good match on Saturday«.
