Reconstruction, restoration and … AEK

In this season of reconstruction, PAOK’s goal was to lay the foundations on which the team’s furure will be based. Character and personality are the main elements that shine through not only in training, but also through the competitions the club plays in. Important crash tests, such as the recent second-leg Greek Cup semi-final.

29.04.2022

A crash test that PAOK passed with flying colours and are now preparing for the next ones ahead. The Dobule-headed Eagle, after all, has six more games in the Super League Interwetten Play Offs before dealing with the Greek Cup again on May 21 against Panathinaikos.

Thursday (28.04) was a day of rest. The work started again in earnest on Friday (29.04). The players who were in the starting XI of the match at the «Georgios Karaiskakis» did a recovery and rehabilitation training program.

The rest of the group worked with the coaches out on the praxtice pitches and started planning the strategy for the derby with AEK. After the necessary warm-up and some possession games, Razvan Lucescu gave a tactics session, while in the last part the players put into practice what they had been learning through a mini-friendly clash.

The Romanian coach and his associates are called upon to manage the injury problems that arose from the match with Olympiacos. Douglas Augusto is out of the match against AEK, as he received a red card. The Brazilian, who also took a blow to the thigh, stayed inside for treatment, but in the next few days he will gradually return to full training.

Diego Biseswar suffered a strained lateral ligament, underwent some treatment and, his condition will be re-evaluated.

Alexandru Mitrita is also on the list of those who were forced to leave the pitch because of injury against Olympiacos. His MRI scan was clear though and the player is expected to resume full training immediately.

Omar El Kaddouri, who underwent a new MRI scan to evaluate the progress of his injury, trained individually.

Finally, Leo Jaba did a rehabilitation program in the swimming pool, while Charis Tsingaras, who is suffering from a right thigh strain, and Andre Vieirinha, who has not overcome some discomfort in his knee, all did individual programs.

On Saturday (30.04) PAOK will train at 18:00 at the Toumba.
