A «Black and white» stamp on Greece Under-19’s qualification
Greece’s Under-19 side played with their backs to the wall on Tuesday afternoon at the Toumba against Kazakhstan. With a win, they would reach the next qualifying round of EURO 2027, and with defeat they would be relegated to League B. In the end, our country’s young guns celebrated an emphatic 4-2 victory which secured an important qualification from a very difficult group, with … a “black and white” flavour to the achievement without a doubt.
With two goals from our own Dimitris Berdos , one from Antonis Aretis (the other goal was scored by Avramoulis), four players from PAOK in the starting lineup (Berdos, Kyriazidis, Avgitidis, Gioka) and two (Aretis, Toursounidis), who played as substitutes, Greece beat the group leaders and, combined with the result of the other match, ranked second in the group (1st Portugal, 3rd Kazakhstan), with Serbia being relegated to League B.
The next phase, which will determine qualification to the EURO 2027 finals in the Czech Republic, will be held in the autumn. The draw for the formation of the new groups will be held on June 15.
