PAOK’s internationals representing their countries from Greece to Mexico
From the Greek national team and their friendly tests in Europe, and the preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to call-ups for youth players, the Black and Whites will be strongly represented in many stadiums around the globe.
Christos Zafeiris was called up for Greece’s two friendlies against Sweden in Stockholm on June 4 (20:00) and against Italy in Crete on June 7 (22:00).
World Cup player Jorge Sanchez is already in Mexico (he played the second half of the friendly against Ghana on 23.05, which the Mexicans won 2-0) and the match against Australia (31.05) and Serbia (04.06) follow.
The World Cup … is also on the agenda of Rahman Baba , who is in Wales for Ghana’s friendly against Wales on 02.06. Andrija Zivkovic’s Serbia also play two friendly matches, on 31.05 against Cape Verde in Lisbon and on 04.06 in Toluca, Mexico against Sanchez’s Mexico.
Tomasz Kedziora is in the Polish squad for the two home friendly matches against Ukraine (31.05) and Nigeria (03.06).
Estonia have also called upon Karel Mustma for the Baltic Cup matches on 6 and 9 June, with the participation of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Faroe Islands.
Friendly matches in Croatia are on the menu for the Greece Under-21 squad with the coach calling up three PAOK players, Dimitris Hatsidis, Giannis Sarris and Konstantinos Polykratis. Greece played against Qatar (lost 2-1) and Croatia follows (30.05).
The Greece Under-19 squad are preparing with the 2008 generation and six PAOK Academy players were called up for both the international friendlies in Cyprus and the official UEFA matches, which will be held at the Toumba, in early June. Those included are Charalambos Avgitidis, Dimitris Kyriazidis, Konstantinos Toursounidis, Antonis Areti, Giorgos Krommydas, Vangelis Ghiokas and Dimitris Berdos , who were called up for the friendly match against Cyprus on 27.05 (2-0 win for Greece) and the match against England (28.05, 2-1 defeat with Berdos the scorer). Greece and specifically the Toumba is hosting the matches of the 1st qualifying phase of Group 6 of League A, with the EURO 2027 finals in the Czech Republic as the backdrop. Greece will face Portugal, Serbia and Kazakhstan in their group. The match schedule is as follows: Greece – Serbia 03.06 18:00 Portugal – Greece 06.06 18:00 Kazakhstan – Greece 09.06 18:00. It should be noted that for health reasons the participation of Giorgos Krommydas was withdrawn.
Ioannis Neto, Lucas Veridiano, Stavros Kogalidis, Thomas Nikiforos, Panagiotis Douralis, Arby Louska and Giorgos Tentolouris were also called up to the Greece Under-16 squad for the UEFA Under-16 Development Tournament, which was held in Portugal from 19 to 24 May. Greece were defeated 5-1 by Italy, 3-0 by Portugal and 3-0 by the Czech Republic.
There were more calls for our young players to an extremely interesting tournament, the UEFA Conmebol Under-16 Development Cup, which is being held in Asuncion, Paraguay from 30.05 to 07.06.
