Vieirinha: «Getting the three points is all that matters»
Adelino Vieirinha spoke to Novasports about the upcoming derby clash with Aris at the “Kleanthis Vikelidis” on Matchday 3 of the Super League. Read what the captain said via paokfc.gr.
On the game against Aris:
«We are at the beginning of the league season, we have a lot to improve. Both teams are new, with new players. It will be a very difficult game, we will fight as we do in every match, knowing that the opponent is also looking for victory as it is coming into this match on the back of a poor result… We will be ready, it is still the beginning but the most important thing is the three points.»
On how PAOK are shaping up so far at the start of the championship:
«We still have many things to improve… Our play compared to the first official match against Levski is more improved. We like the team’s overall image and the football we have shown in the last two games; we know we can do better and for longer spells of matches. This is what we will try to do against Aris.»
On Aris’ search for a coach after the «divorce» with Burgos:
«Always when a team changes or sacks a manager, all the players want to show that they deserve a chance or place in the starting line-up. We know that in these derbies there is also a lot of inensity, but as I said before, we have worked hard, we have put together a very good team and we are ready for the derby.»
On what he has told the new players about the derby match:
«That it’s a derby and all that matters is the three points, but of course always that these games are something more.»
On playing as a right back:
«Wherever the team needs me, that’s where I’ll play. We all know my favorite position isn’t full-back, but for so many years I’ve played on the right, on the left and I’m used to it. So, the important thing for me is to win, for the team to do well, and to win trophoies, and I’m happy with that.»
