Monastirlis’ decisive save
Dimitris Monastirlis’ decisive penalty save from Tasos Karamanis of Atromitos in the Play-Off tie in the Greek Cup at the Toumba Stadium is the PAOK TV Play of the Month for January, based on your votes.
A confident debut, with solidity, good positional sense and a penalty save that sent PAOK into the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup. It could only be 21-year-old Dimitris Monastirlis to win the PAOK TV Play of the Month for January. With an overwhelming 77.43%, the young goalkeeper, born and bred in PAOK, was the player who put his stamp on qualifcation to last eight, which paves the way for PAOK to go on and book their place in another Greek Cup final.
PAOK won the penalty shootout 5-4 after a 1-1 draw, with Monastirlis saving the last penalty before being «drowned» in the embraces of his teammates.
Second in the voting was A. Zivkovic, with 18.80% of the votes, thanks to his solid play and the amazing assist he provided at the «Georgios. Karaiskakis» in the semi-final tie with Olympiacos, from which Magomed Ozdoev’s goal was registered for the final 2-0 scoreline. It was an assist which resulted from impressive build-up play counting 40 seconds and 15 passes from the visitors.
The trio is completed by Alexander Jeremejeff, with 3.71%, for his wonderful through-ball to A. Zivkovic for the Serb who scored to make it 1-1 in the cup match with Atromitos at the Toumba.
