Pantelis Hatzidiakos joins PAOK
PAOK FC announces the acquisition of Pantelis Hatzidiakos. The Greek international defender has signed a contract with the club until 30.06.2029.
Pantelis Hatzidiakos was born on January 18, 1997 in Rhodes and at a young age moved with his family to the Netherlands, where he joined the AZ Alkmaar academy in 2011, having started his football career initially at the Panathinaikos academy.
He progressed through the AZ Alkmaar youth system and signed his first professional contract with the Dutch club in January 2015. He made his debut with the AZ Alkmaar first team in the Eredivisie, where he gradually established himself as a key member of the defensive line. In December 2017, he scored his first goal in the Dutch league, in a 2-0 win over Venlo, while from the 2018-19 season he became one of the team’s key players. At the same time, he gained significant European appearances, competing in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
In 2023, he took the next important step in his career, transferring to Italian club Cagliari, while the following year he continued his career in Copenhagen, on behalf of the Danish team.
At the international level, he went through the younger age groups of both the Greek national team and the Dutch national team, wore the Greek Under-21 jersey and on October 12, 2019, he made his debut with the senior Greece team, against Italy in the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers.
