In an action-packed international week, many PAOK players featured for their national teams:

Finland-Greece 1-1

Claudio Ranieri included Stefanos Athanasiadis in his starting line-up for the away encounter against Finland on Saturday. Klaus didn’t score but was a constant pain for the rival defenders with his move in the box and also helped Greece defend. It wasn’t a match of many scoring opportunities, however the Italian coach congratulated PAOK’s striker for his 85-minute performance –he was substituted by Kostas Mitroglou in the last stretch of the encounter. Glykos, Salpingidis, Skondras and Tziolis remained on the bench.

Romania-Hungary 1-1

The absence of suspended Romania skipper Ciprian Marica presented Răzvan Raț with the opportunity to put on the captain’s armband. The influential left full-back was once again the best on the pitch. He teed up Raul Rusescu for the Romanian goal in the 45th minute. The Hungarians leveled in the 82nd minute with a direct free kick and didn’t permit Raț to celebrate his 99th cap as he would have wanted.

Slovakia-Spain 2-1

Miroslav Stoch sealed Slovakia’s famous win over Spain with a… header, coming off the bench to substitute Róbert Mak. The latter was a constant threat for the Spaniards, missed a great opportunity to score and is going through the best spell of his career.

Albania-Denmark 1-1

Ergys Kace is an important piece of the Albania team in their qualifying quest, but he remained on the bench during the encounter against Denmark.

Greece U19-Switzerland U19 2-2 (friendly)

Koulouris, Deligiannidis and Tsolakidis were in the starting line-up of Greece U19s against their Switzerland counterparts. Deligiannidis scored the 2-2 equalizer in the 76th minute, while Koulouris was denied by the woodwork in the first half.
