Match Report

It’s time for the moment of truth

21.07.2016

PAOK drew 1-1 with Apollon Limassol in their final rehearsal before next Tuesday’s encounter against AFC Ajax for the UEFA Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

Vladan Ivić had the opportunity to check out his team’s condition and note down the adjustments that need to be made.

He insisted in a 4-2-3-1 formation, that his troops seem comfortable with. Especially in the first stages of the match, the “Double-Headed Eagle” were in command, creating several opportunities to take the lead, the biggest one through Djalma Campos.

After the interval, the pace dropped and Apollon gained metres on the pitch. There wasn’t too much action in the boxes, but the visiting side did take the lead with a penalty (committed by Achilleas Pougouras) in the 85th minute. Alexandros Tziolis equalized five minutes later with a header.

PAOK line-up: Glykos (61′ Brkić ), Matos (28′ Kitsiou), Tzavellas (61′ Malezas), Crespo (76′ Pougouras), Leovac (61′ Giannoulis), Cimirot (46′ Charisis), Shakhov (61′ Tziolis), Rodrigues (61′ Pereyra), Pelkas (46′ Biseswar), Campos (61′ Jairo), Koulouris (76′ Cañas)
