On what went wrong in Tripolis:

«It was a bad day for us. Perhaps pressure played a part, we didn’t handle the match well. We conceded the first goal and hurried in our attacking plays, allowing Asteras to find spaces to exploit.

In a regular league, playing regular games, the league title is decided by these games’ results. But, since this is not a regular league, things work out differently. Imagine what the situation would be if we had played our previous fixture and won it. Everything would be crystal clear in our minds. If we could ‘afford’ to lose –something normal following a winning streak- perhaps things would play out differently today. In such situations, reaction is the only option«.

On the referee:

«We must blame ourselves for this defeat. I don’t want anyone to blame the referee, not even my players, although he made two serious errors. We must focus on our errors. After such a long winning streak, it’s normal to have such a result in normal football. We might even have the right to an off-evening. You are right about a 2-2 result –that would be another point in the bag. But we went crazy, we wanted a third goal so badly. We had the same reaction in the first half as well, after conceding the goal. We didn’t react as we usually do. That is what happened today«.

On whether Asteras took them by surprise:

«It’s not that Asteras played like Barcelona and took us by surprise. Their goals were a direct consequence of our mistakes. We lacked patience to impose our pace in the game and failed in our positioning. Our lines weren’t close, neither in defence or attack«.
