«The one who wants victory more, will prevail»
The coach of the “Double-Headed Eagle” Răzvan Lucescu spoke to Novasports TV about the upcoming encounter against Panathinaikos in Leoforos and other issues related to the team. Read on paokfc.gr what he said:
On events of past week:
«It was a strange week. On one hand it was good, because of our three home victories, on the other hand though there was that verdict about the AEK match«.
Was he expecting a different verdict?
«I don’t know how to answer that. It’s hard to accept such a verdict. It was a strategic plan to corner PAOK. At first, Olympiakos came here and didn’t want to play. An unacceptable verdict was reached about that match. Then AEK visited. A perfectly legal goal was allowed and then disallowed. We must learn why that happened. AEK players didn’t come out to play the last minutes, while we were leading 1-0. Afterwards the two committees decided to rule against us. These verdicts were reached by people who followed the afore-mentioned strategic plan. Let me remind you the recent verdict about the Turkish Cup encounter between Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş. The coach of Beşiktaş was hit by a missile and the match was suspended. The disciplinary committee decided that the remainder of the abandoned game would go ahead behind closed doors and fined Fenerbahçe. This verdict proves that football should be played on the pitch. Things here are different, disgusting. People behind such decisions are not fair. They are breaking the law, this is stealing. That is what should be judged here. Everyone should be held accountable. Even the ones who came up with the said verdicts«.
On the Greek Cup final against AEK:
«I don’t want to talk about the final, there is still a long way ahead. What matters more now is the encounter against Panathinaikos. We want to win it, out of respect for our profession and the sport«.
On Panathinaikos:
«In recent encounters, Panathinaikos displayed strength of character and high motivation. The players are out to prove they can play in big clubs. Mr Ouzounidis is an outstanding coach, he organizes his teams impeccably. I am expecting a high quality game between two very good teams«.
On what can decide the game:
«PAOK and Panathinaikos play a different kind of football. Our rivals are compact and are looking out for transition situations. We have more quality and excel in possession football. The one who wants victory more, will prevail«.
On Campos’s injury:
«Campos will not be in Leoforos. He is expected to start training on the first day of next week«.
