«We are a family»

Dimitris Pelkas shared his thoughts with Novasports TV ahead of the Levadiakos game. Here is what PAOK´s attacking midfielder said:

18.04.2019

Regarding Sunday’s game:

«We can hardly wait, the whole team. But we first put our heads down and focus on winning«.

Regarding the draw in Larissa and what led to it:

«The season isn’t over yet. We are all trying to work well, prepare well ahead of our matches. Not winning in Larissa was a combination of factors: a bad pitch, making a mistake that led to our rivals’ goal. It’s football. We didn’t make it and now we need to defeat Levadiakos and win the league title«.

Regarding his goal:

«I only want to give the team what they need of me. All players feed on goals. I am glad I scored, but that is irrelevant since we didn’t secure victory«.

Regarding Vieirinha’s injury and its effect on the team:

«We are all upset. Every day we spend together, we are upset seeing teammates injured. He has done so much for the team. He has achieved so much in his career and remains humble. He helps so much on and off the pitch on a daily basis. We are upset for Vieirinha, for the man he is. This affects us for sure, because we want him on our side. On Sunday we will play for him. We face tough moments, but we are a tight-knit group. All teams should be like that, like a family. That’s the only road to success«.

Regarding the fans’ love for Vieirinha:

«It’s understandable. He has won them over with his character. Everybody is upset that Vieirinha got injured«.

Whether he is interested in stats:

«All players want to score goals. Footballers feed on them. Many are interested in their stats and it’s good to set such objectives. On a personal note, yes, I am interested in… numbers«.

Regarding the encounter against Levadiakos:

«We work hard and aim to win every match. We will do the same on Sunday. We trained accordingly and we know Levadiakos won’t come here on a leisure trip. We need to start strongly, perfectly aware that all teams want to defeat the league leaders, to make us suffer our first loss. We will try to make it easy on us«.
