«We knew how important it was to qualify»
What Răzvan Lucescu said in his press conference, after the final whistle of the Greek Cup semi-final against Asteras Tripolis in the press room of “Theodoros Kolokotronis”.
Regarding the Tripolis game and qualification:
«I can’t say we wanted to play this way today, but it’s an option. We prepared with the intention to impose our usual game, but our lack of mental energy didn’t allow it. We knew how important it was to qualify and have a shot of winning this cup as well«.
On fielding Crespo as full back and his picks in general:
«We were perfectly aware of the task at hand and we wanted to qualify. Giannoulis needs more days to recover fully after a game. Crespo, Varela and Ingason provided us with the necessary mental balance and additional height in set pieces. Our line-up decisions stemmed from all these factors«.
Regarding the two finals remaining:
«It goes without saying that we want to win these games. Every single match this season has been like a final for us. We won the league after so many years and we are once again in the Greek Cup final«.
