On this day: A derby win over Panathinaikos
On April 5th 1975, PAOK welcomed Panathinaikos to the Toumba on Matchday 25 of Greece’s top flight, then named the Alpha Ethniki.
On front of 30.308 fans, the Dikefalos tou Vorra defeated the Greens 2-0 thanks to goals from Apostolidis in the 29th minute from a free-kick and Stavros Sarafis with a header from Terzanidis’ cross. Earlier in the match, Giorgos Koudas hit the woodwork for the hosts.
The result remained unchanged in the second half, despite the fact that the home side let their tempo drop, while on the hour mark, Koudas was substituted.
After this win, PAOK showed good consistency in home matches, recording four wins and nine victories in nine in a row overall. This resulted in the cub finishing third in the title race behind Olympiacos and AEK.
