Happy Birthday Thomas!
Our midfielder Thomas Murg turns 26 today, and PAOK FC would like to wish him many years of health, happiness and successes on both a personal and professional level.
Thomas Murg was born on November 14 1994 in Boitsberg, Austria and at 6 years old he joined the youth academy at Bernbach, where he remained until 2010, playing also at Sturm Graz.
From there he moved to Grazer, where in the same year (2010) he made his professional debut. He stayed there for another two years and overall scored 13 goals in 49 appearances for the club in the Austrian lower divisions, before making the big step up to Austria Vienna.
There he made 19 appearances, scoring twice and representing both the first team and the reserves. He won a league title in the 2012-13 season.
In 2014 he switched to Ried, where his career really took off. In two seasons with the club, he made 44 appearances, scored eight goals, and served up another six via assists. He began to establish himself as one of the top attacking midfielders in the league.
In January of 2016 Rapid Vienna came calling and signed him. Murg immediately won a place in the starting XI and became a key player in the team’s rise to prominence in recent years.
Overall, he played 163 times in a Rapid shirt, finding the net 35 times, while also contributing 40 assists.
In October 2020, Murg accepted a proposal from PAOK to move to Thessaloniki. He has already scored twice in six appearances for his new club.
Happy Birthday Thomas!
