PAOK B get a win to breathe life into season
PAOK B desperately needed a win on Saturday and they got a convincing one, defeating Kavala 3-0 on Matchday 16 of Super League 2 in Efkarpia. The Double-headed Eagle finally tasted victory after several weeks, and they will enter the play-outs with a slight advantage.
PAOK’s second string had the upper hand throughout the opening 45 minutes, controlling the game and creating chances. In the 14th minute, they had a double chance with Tsaousis, then in the 22nd minute Bataoulas ‘ header hit the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, the hosts threatened again with Tsaousis. The breakthrough finally came on the stroke of half-time with a shot by Smyrlis, who converted an assist from Tsaousis.
The second half was a more balanced affair, with neither side able to register a significant chance until the last ten minutes of hte match, when PAOK B besieged the visitors’ penalty area. In the 85th minute, from Spyrakos‘effort came the corner kick executed by Tsaousis for Bataoulas who hit the woodwork for a second time in the game. However, in his first appearance for PAOK B, the youngster found the net with an impressive scissor-kick effort a minute later, in the 86th minute, following a corner kick by Tsaousis. Then three minutes later Hatsidis was tripped in the penalty area, and Gitersos scored from the spot to make the final score 3-0.
The next game for PAOK B is an away test against AEL next Saturday.
