Another important three-points for PAOK B
PAOK B won another ‘final’ contest in their attempt to enter the Play-outs with the most possible points. The club’s second team beat Makedonikos 3-1 in Efkarpia on Matchday 17 of Super League 2 and are now on 21 points.
Although PAOK B started well and took the lead in the 11th minute, they did not take advantage of it. With an indirect free-kick, Tsopouroglou found Gitersos and he made it 1-0 with a nice placed effort. Then, however, Makedonikos responded, and in the 23rd minute they equalized through Kadave. Among the highlights of the half were a nice individual play and placed shot from Kalaitsidis, which was saved by the home team’s goalkeeper. Otherwise, there was not much to show for the first 45 minutes.
The pattern of the game was similar in the second 45 minutes with PAOK B having the control and possession, without any real threat to the Makedonikos‘ goal, however. That was until the 55th minute, when Mustma was brought down in the penalty area and Gitersos successfully converted the penalty, giving PAOK B the lead again. Makedonikos then pressed, but to no avail, as the Double-headed Eagle defended well and even scored a third goal in stoppage time via Adam (the assist was provided by Kanis), sealing another important victory.
The next and final game of the regular season of the championship is the home game against Kabaniakos.
