On the road again
From the moment the fixture lists came out, PAOK knew only too well that September would be a demanding month. After the trip to Gibraltar, the squad had a short break at the club’s training base, before packing their bags again for another road trip.
The next mission is in Tripoli and the opening day loss to PAS Giannina adds extra importance to the match. We may still only be at the beginning of the season, but games like this against a very well-organized team like Asteras are one of those matches you have to win at all costs. The cost of the match in Gibraltar, for example, was Jose Angel Crespo.
The Spanish defender who felt some discomfort in his right thigh and left the game in the first half has suffered a thigh strain and he will return to action in around 15 days. Crespo’s absence is added to alread-injured trio Ingason, El Kaddouri, and Oliveira, who are all continuing with treatment and rehabilitation programs.
With this in mind, Razvan Lucescu is preparing his team both physically and psychologically, since as he emphasizes at every opportunity, it is especially important for his team to have the right personality to manage the consecutive games, even when things do not develop as planned.
In Saturday’s (18.09) training session, the work was focused on tactics both in the defensive and creative aspects, while at the end of the session there was also some practice in static phases.
Lucescu has the following 20 players at his disposal: Z.Zivkovic, Paschalakis, Vieirinha, Rodrigo, Sidcley, Mihaj, Michailidis, Varela, Kurtic, Schwab, Douglas, Esiti, Mitrita, Murg, Z.Zivkovic, Kosntantelias, Biseswar, Swiderski, Akpom, Koutsias.
