Dimitris Salpingidis was presented with the Vodafone MVP award by former teammate <strongSlađan Spasić after scoring one goal, setting up another and capping an impressive performance both in attack and defence. On his nameday, he told reporters after collecting his award:

“It’s important to reach such good level of performance as we did today, but it is not always obvious. In the previous encounter against ACF Fiorentina, the quality of the rival weighed heavily on the outcome.

It’s natural not to have the same results when playing against a superior opponent. However I believe that eventually PAOK will be able to defeat a stronger side.

We are very happy with our top spot in the league, but it’s too soon for big talks. We must confirm our superiority on the pitch, not by talking. The upcoming encounters for the Greek Cup are extremely important and we must put on our best performance to get the desired results.
