Under-17’s suffer first defeat

PAOK’s Under-17 team had a bad day at the office on Saturday, suffering their first defeat at the hands of Xanthi 3-1. Despite the loss, PAOK remain top of the standings in Group B with 21 points.

The visitors made a strong start and got themselves in front after just three minutes. PAOK managed to respond from that early setback, but despite creating several chances and hitting the post before half-time, a goal was not forthcoming.

In the second half Xanthi once again got off to a flying start and doubled their advantage three minutes after the restart to make it 2-0. After 55 minutes Babouras netted for PAOK to reduce the deficit to one goal following Rumanchev’s assist. But, as PAOK pushed for an equaliser they were caught on the counter-attack and Xanthi scored a third goal in added time to seal the three-points.

PAOK lineup: Botis, Kitsakis (50’ Koulouris), Sinanai, Koulieriakis, Koutsidis, Tsikos, Smyrlis, Koutentakis (60’ Spiridopoulos), Babouras, Rumanchev (65’ Spirakos), Kedikoglou (45’ Tasiouras).
