Under-19s defeated
Sooner or later it was destined to happen. The Under-19 side were finally defeated by 2-0 by Olympiacos in Agios Rentis – the team’s first defeat in the league since December 10, 2017. The Under-19 team had gone on a 90-match unbeaten run and were stopped at the 91st attempt.
PAOK remain in third place in the Super League with 13 points from six games. The next match is a home clash with Apollon Smyrnis.
The Double-headed Eagle conceded one goal in each half, the first coming in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot. Until that moment, the match was a balanced affair, but there were a lot of niggly fouls and tempers were evident. In the second half, PAOK seemed more determined to recover, even coming close to pulling level. However, they failed to score and then in the 63rd minute the visitors conceded a second goal.
PAOK tried hard to get themselves back in the game and they were unlucky not to score on two occasions, with Babouras and Smyrlis both failing to convert good chances.
PAOK lineup: Monastirlis, Tsopouroglou, Zilo (87′ Tsiakoumis), Manolioudis, Aventisian, Tsikos, Koutentakis, Spyrakos (57′ Bambouras), Darelas (67′ Garnetas), Smyrlis, Varela (67′ Kedikoglou).
