Under-19’s progress to final
PAOK’s Under-19 team were at their dominant and effective best as they beat Panaitolikos 3-1 in the U-19 Greek Cup semi-final which was held on Wednesday afternoon in Souroti, claiming a place in the final showpiece.
On their way to the semi-finals, the Double-headed Eagle’s youngsters eliminated Levadiakos and Olympiacos and they now await the winner of the other semi-final between Aris and Atromitos (29.03), with the final scheduled to be held on May 24, most likely in Agrinio (venue remains TBC).
The game began with a minute of silence in memory of Kleomenis.
PAOK’s first goal was scored by Gravvanis in the 43rd minute, from a pass by Stylos, and the next two were scored by Aretis. In the 63rd minute, he made it 2-0, converting an assist from Toursoundidis, and in the 66th minute, 3-0 from a pass by Dunga. Panaitolikos reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 68th minute, but PAOK comfortably held firm to clinch a place in the final.
There will now be a break, given the obligations of the Greece youth teams in the EURO qualifiers, with the U-19 team specifically competing in early April, away from home, against Atromitos.
