Injury-time win for the PAOK U20s
PAOK U20s returned to their winning ways with a 4-3 victory over Asteras Tripolis at Nea Mesimvria, in a spectacular encounter with goals, turns and twists.
Vladan Ivić’s pupils stormed out of the blocks and took the lead in the 17th minute with a header by Deligiannidis, who took the rebound after the rival goalkeeper failed to block the ball following Pozoglou’s shot. Asteras leveled the encounter in the 38th minute with a header from the six-yard box.
PAOK got to an ideal start of the second half, as Deligiannidis combined beautifully with Kushta and completed his brace of the day in the 48th minute. But the joy of the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” players didn’t get to last, as the Arcadian side replied one minute later with a close-range shot.
The encounter was being played at a crazy pace and PAOK were awarded a penalty just a minute after Asteras equalizer. Pozoglou scored from the spot restoring PAOK’s lead. But Asteras proved yet again their die-hard mentality and equalized for the third time in the 66th minute.
In the last minutes of the encounter, Ivić’s players pressured a lot looking for the winner and were vindicated in stoppage time, Τsiampazis netting with a powerful shot on a cross by Pozoglou.
