Internationals return for morning training
The international break is over and Răzvan Lucescu is gradually welcoming back to Nea Mesimvria those who had joined their national teams. The Romanian tactician has more players to work with ahead of next Monday’s Super League encounter against Apollon Smyrni, corresponding to matchday 3 (kick-off at 19:30).
On Tuesday morning in Nea Mesimvria, PAOK players worked on tactics and their physical condition. After their warm-up, they engaged in 10v10 games without goalkeepers, who joined in later. The head coach of the “Double-Headed Eagle” was explaining to his troops non-stop what he wants to see them do on the pitch.
The day marked the return of several international players to the PAOK FC Sports Centre. Gojko Cimirot followed part of training, Εfthymis Koulouris and Dimitris Limnios both followed a recuperation session and Panagiotis Deligiannidis trained normally.
José Ángel Crespo worked out at a higher pace and is expected to join his team-mates on Wednesday evening. Stelios Malezas got struck by the ball in the face after a fierce shot and his nose bled. The medical staff attended to him right away, but he withdrew from the session out of precaution.
Aleksandar Prijović and Yevhen Shakhov, who were on international duty on Tuesday evening, are expected back to Thessaloniki on Wednesday. Róbert Mak returned on Tuesday evening. He sustained a knee knock on Monday, during Slovakia’s loss to England, and he will undergo medical tests by PAOK doctor Manolis Papakostas. The latter already spoke to his counterparts of the Slovakia national team and was assured that Mak’s injury is not serious. The exact time of his absence will be determined after the medical tests.
There is a double training scheduled for Wednesday 6 September: at 10:00 and at 18:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
