AOK Kerkyra – PAOK: Mixed zone
Pelkas and Paschalakis spoke to media representatives after the victory over AOK Kerkyra in Corfu.
Dimitris Pelkas focused on the good job both in attack and defence, on his goal, the aim of winning the league and also spoke highly of PAOK fans who attended the Corfu match:
“It wasn’t an easy goal. The pitch was slippery from the start, I fell and got back up, recuperating ball possession. Knowing where the goal was, I made the shot.
Both are important: three goals scored and a clean sheet. Not conceding a goal and producing many chances to score. We ended up creating several opportunities for more goals. We made errors. That can happen even in matches we win. We will watch the match again, as we want to improve constantly.
I personally believe in the league title. We all believe it. I am not afraid of heights. We don’t make long-term plans. We take it one game at a time, point by point.
Matches against high-placed team will be determining. We have five such matches ahead of us. Anything can happen. There are teams capable of denying points from the “big” ones. It will be an exciting league.
So many people went through a six-hour trip, came by boat. They conveyed their positive vibes, stood by us. The least I could do was bow in front of them”.
Alexandros Paschalakis kept his goal intact for yet another encounter. The Greek goalkeeper sang the praises of his defenders and analyzed his own part in the game.
“It’s good that we kept a clean sheet again, that is the result of team work. We continue our work in the same demure and disciplined manner. A goalkeeper’s job in a big team such as PAOK is to intervene 1-2 times. I need to be ready at any time and remain focused throughout the encounter.
We continue our work in total focus. Sometimes, when my team-mates run for 85 minutes, fatigue is bound to kick in. The goalkeeper must appear in such moments. I did that well today and we managed to keep a clean sheet”.
